We recently had a job where we needed to provide new windows. We replaced a 5 wide bow window that had 4 operating panels and 1 stationary panel with a 4 wide full operating Pella window. We insulated above the window with batt insulation which the old window didn’t have. This type of insulation keeps the heat from escaping from the head of the bow window into the soffit/attic.
We also added a 2 inch insulated seat which keeps cold from coming through the seat itself, allowing extra seating even in our cold winters. As we discussed in a previous blog, having proper window installation and maintenance is key to preventing window condensation.
